Acoustic Fencing & Barriers
Our panels are also specially designed to satisfy stringent highway performance standards. Tested and compliant to BS EN 1794-1 and BS EN 1794-2, the acoustic panels also comply with Highways Sector Scheme 2C for the prefabrication of environmental barriers.
Background.
Our acoustic fences and sound barriers combine high performance and cost friendly considerations to the most demanding standards out there. Our solutions are ideal for railway, highway, commercial along with fencings specifically designed for residential applications where the fence doesn't need to be "over specified". For complete peace of mind, we cover all of our fencing with a manufacturers guarantee of 25 years.
A soundproof fence is of thick construction and made of high mass materials to obtrude the surroundings' noise. Solid materials are used to construct these fence types. At acuphon we offer solid wood fence panels that both absorb noise and block noise. Our independently tested fence system has been tested at the University of Salford to Highways England requirements - BS EN1793 Road Traffic Noise Devices.
In addition to a supply only option, we also offer a UK installation service. Using our own acuphon installation team or acuphon approved fence installers if more cost friendly.
Reflective
What's your space.
The Reflective acoustic barrier was first created in early 2000s and has kept its original design ever since. This is thanks to its exceptional soundproofing properties, aesthetically pleasing timber appearance, privacy due to its solid construction, and security features from the flat, anti-climb profile.
The reflective acoustic fence works by "reflecting" noise away from its developed profile which is created from heavy section planed timber V shaped boards that slot together to minimise gaps that sound could travel through.

Absorptive.
Our Absorptive acoustic fences take the Reflective fence design of a heavy section timber boards with deep interlocking ‘v’ tongue and groove joint, coupled to tuning fork posts but includes an absorptive layer of a mineral Rockwool fibre and protective membrane to one side of the barrier to help soak up some of that airborne noise.
The Absorptive fence is designed specifically to keep noise within a contained space and is typically used around continuous power supply generators, air conditioner compressors, waste compactors and goods loading areas.
Commercial & Highways.
Our highway fence has been designed specifically for commercial and highway applications, providing the same level of noise protection as the original reflective fence.
The V’ boards are fixed to galvanised steel I-beam posts for additional strength and rigidity, meeting not only the tightest standards such as BSEN1794-1 and 2, but prove ideal for applications in exposed locations subject to high wind loading. The system can also be offered with capping and counter rails to further enhance its appearance. Posts can even be timber-clad to match.
Residential.
A lighter therefore cheaper 20mm thick panel which maintains the same cover face. Planed Tongue and Grooved boards with small chamfers which form a “V” join between boards. Our residential fencing offer a cost-effective solution for situations where lower level of noise reduction is acceptable in applications subject to low to moderate wind loads. Its timber construction provides an attractive natural appearance that is appropriate for housing developments, schools, parks and construction sites.
Security Rated Acoustic fencing.
Offering three grades of security rated acoustic fencing, this range is based on our reflective fence panels certified to LPS 1175 C5 (SR3) and provides resistance to determined attempts at entry using a range of tools including battery powered tools. The double layer of timber boards results in a totally flat face making climbing the fence extremely difficult and is ideally suited to applications requiring a natural timber façade, where privacy is important, or for the containment of noise into or out from a site.
