"There is a science to absorption. Sound absorption isn't just egg box acoustic foam applied to a surface"

The science of deadening reverberant noise in a space with reverberant noise being perceived as “echo”. An echo is caused by sound waves travelling through the air and bouncing off hard surfaces. This partially reflected noise or sound is the echo and can last for a few annoying seconds until it dissipates.

The method of acoustic absorption or controlling the time it takes the sound to dissipate can sometimes be tricky. Sound waves continue to travel in new directions and some of the incident sound waves are absorbed by obstructing surfaces, the, then absorbed acoustic energy or vibrations turn into heat energy. Acuphon can help control this time by adding acoustic absorption panels, suspended acoustic rafts and baffles. We do the calculations for you.

"By now we are all aware that controlling echo AKA noise control is extremely important in any workplace, meeting place or any learning facility".

The amount of sound energy absorbed by a surface is given by its absorption coefficient (α) The absorption coefficients range from 0 to 1.0 with 1.0 being total absorption. Hypothetically a surface that reflects 100% and absorbs no sound then has no absorption characteristics hence an absorption coefficient of zero (0) The higher the absorption coefficient (α) value, the more sound will be absorbed.

Our Sound Absorption systems have varying sound absorption classifications that help enable fine tuning of a space, these materials are known as (amongst others) Sound Absorption Panels and range from 'Class A' to 'Class D'. All our architectural acoustic panels are in accordance with the Building Regulations Absorber Classification when tested to BS EN ISO 11654-1997.

Sound absorption panels can be fitted to walls, ceilings and/or a combination of both.

Here at acuphon we have a range of soundproofing solutions covering all types of noise reduction applications, including impact and airborne noise control in both commercial and domestic settings. From Acuphon's sound barriers for walls and ceilings, to acoustic matting for floors.

We provide complete solutions to give you or your client piece of mind…and a good night sleep!

Acuphon have products and systems specifically suited to airborne noise reduction and impact noise reduction.
