Ideal for timber floors, the PhonoMat-15 Pro is a superior product that outshines all acoustic underlayment systems currently on the market. This is due to its double mass loaded vinyls and the use of the cross linked foam impact layer, granting the product longevity, lasting years of 'bounce back' properties, when comparing to lower grade foams. As traditional non cross linked foams which you can expect only 1-3 years service, and if there is a continuous point-load on the lesser grade foam then it will lose its shape reducing acoustic performance.


PhonoMat® 15 Pro consists of two layers of 5kg barrier mat for Low- Medium noise. If you need Medium-High, look at the PhonoMat® 22 Pro Max.


It is designed to be installed simply and quickly as any conventional carpet underlay or pre plasterboard layer but with the added function of being acoustic. PhonoMat-15 Pro is ideal for use in domestic applications where privacy and comfort is required. 


PhonoMat® is a high performing composite matting that stands out from many acoustic underlay systems currently on the market due to the high grade of materials used. PhonoMat® provides the easiest and most convenient way to reduce airborne sound and impact noise transmission through new and existing floors and will act as a compensating layer of sound insulation when replacing carpets with hard floor finishes such as laminates, hardwood or ceramic tiles. PhonoMat® comes in three thicknesses and can be laid directly onto existing timber and concrete floors.


PhonoMat® is designed for use on timber and concrete floors in domestic and commercial applications to reduce airborne and impact noise passing through intermediate floors into the rooms below and to minimise the sound of footfall on stairs. It is suitable for use in offices, hotels, building extensions, renovations and loft conversions where there is a requirement to improve sound insulation within a property to help comply with building regulations or generally to reduce sound.

  • What are your business hours?

    Our technical team are available on live chat and via phone between 8am - 5pm Mon - Fri (excluding Bank Holidays). It may be worth noting that our warehouse runs seven (7) days a week fulfilling orders.

  • What are the differences between the PhonoMat® range?

    The key differences between PhonoMat® 7 compared to PhonoMat® 22 Pro Max and the PhonoMat® 12 Pro is barrier mat densities and the amount of layers involved to make up this composite acoustic underlay. PhonoMat® 7 is a less dense version of the other two making it more compatible for concrete subfloor constructions where airborne isn't usually a concern. Whereras the PhonoMat® 12 Pro and PhonoMat® 22 Pro Max are used for timber constructions where airborne is more of an issue. The differences between the 22 Pro Max and the 12 Pro is cost and again mass. The PhonoMat® 22 Pro Max is 10kg/m2 heavier than the PhonoMat® 12 Pro making it EVEN more effective for airborne. However, both are suitable for timber floors.

  • What else do I need with PhonoMat®?

    You will require adhesive, jointing tape and our perimeter edging strip.

  • Can I lay carpet over the PhonoMat®?

    Yes. You can lay carpet straight over the PhonoMat®  without any requirement of additional underlays, Plywood or MDF etc.

  • Can I lay tiles, LVT or laminate directly over PhonoMat®?

    Yes. However this is done slightly different to carpet, in the sense that with laminates or tiles, you will require a 9 - 12mm plywood or MDF layer (preferably with T&G edge detail) directly over the PhonoMat® with your tiles or lamintes placed over that layer.

  • Can I use normal glue or tape?

    No. "Normal" tape and glue will not stick to the barrier mat. Infact it will peel off, almost instantly. You will need an adhesive or tape that doesn’t react with plasticisers.

  • When can I expect my delivery?

    We manufacture the PhonoMat® range as a core product of our range, which means we generally always hold stock. Once we get your order we can get it to you within in 3 - 5 working days.
